Jodi Turpin: Hello and welcome back to the Choosing Joy podcast. It's me Jody Lynn Turpin as always. And today I have a very special first time being interviewed on a podcast guest. I'm really excited about it. Her name is Heather Summer or otherwise known and equally referred to as Gingy. Heather: Yes. Yeah, I'll answer to either. ⁓ Jodi Turpin: I love that name so much. Like I think I would just tell everyone that was my name. So it can be, yeah, like you're just like, who are you talking to? Who are you talking to? So Heather is the owner of Jinji's Massage and she's been a massage therapist since 2006. She loves traveling, self care and has three black cats, which I love so much. And they've been like creeping around in front of and behind her. Heather: Yeah. It'll get confusing, but... Yeah. Yes, they will make an appearance for sure. Jodi Turpin: already. She's also Yeah, they love it. I can't wait. Let's get a picture again. And then she also is a doTERRA wellness advocate and a waterless beauty consultant with olive tree people, which I'm going to have to know what that is after. And I was creeping on her site, of course, before this and the extras you offer with massage sound. I was like, I saw you. It was like And you were booked out so far and so much. But there was like maybe like the 19th of March. I'm like, ⁓ should I take it right now? Because I'm afraid I won't ever get in. Heather: Yeah. It is a very long wait list, which I am like humbled and so grateful for like having the security of. ⁓ But, you know, again, I've been doing it since 2006, so I have a lot of regulars at this point and they, you know, they've got it down. They like stock the site and plan ahead. Jodi Turpin: Yes. They know, yeah, because like one day there's only like one evening one and then you had to wait. ⁓ that's amazing. That is like. Heather: Yeah. Sometimes people think that I just don't work that much. I'm like, sure do. work all the time. Yeah. Jodi Turpin: Yeah, that's what you said when I met you. You work a lot. It's all of the things though, right? You're doing your consulting and then also massage and the other things you offer within it. Heather: Yeah, so it wasn't until my best friend was in town and she was introducing me to a coworker and she said, you know, this is my friend Heather. She's a massage therapist and has like five other jobs. And I didn't even realize that I was working like multiple jobs because they all kind of connect together. I was like, no, no, it's all like the same thing. But they're yeah, like I do like to do, you know, Jodi Turpin: Yeah, yeah, yeah. you Heather: things outside of the massage room because I feel like I get tethered to the table and just make a little circle around the massage table. So I like a change of scenery now and then. Jodi Turpin: Yeah. That's good. That's good. you just and you were just traveling with ⁓ you went with did you go with Zion well and one of the retreats? Heather: I did. Yes, we just got back from Costa Rica, ⁓ which is my happy place. ⁓ That was my fourth time doing their Costa Rica retreat. And I think it was maybe my like ninth retreat total with them. So ⁓ definitely something that brings me joy is a yoga retreat and traveling. Yeah. Jodi Turpin: Wow. We move it a week? ⁓ and do you go by yourself? That's what I always ask that question. Heather: ⁓ I mean, sometimes I arrive by myself. Sometimes I kind of coordinate with others and we'll like go early to spend more time in, in a destination. ⁓ but because it's my, you know, yoga studio that's here in Michigan, it always feels like I'm not alone because meeting up with people that I know, or at least look familiar to me from the studio. Jodi Turpin: ⁓ yeah. Yeah, I love going places by myself. So I'm OK with this. Like, I do like going with my friends as well. Sorry, friends. But it's kind of ongoing on your own. ⁓ Heather: ⁓ I love alone time. Like I was an only child. I love alone time. Like I actually like don't mind like going and sitting at the airport. Like I'm like, I'm gonna get so much stuff done. Have it have a cocktail at 10am because does it matter at the airport? Yeah. Wear what you want. Eat and drink what you want. ⁓ Jodi Turpin: There's no time at the airport really you just have this number show up then. ⁓ I really desire to go to Costa Rica so I'm gonna have to look into this next time. I get their emails now and so yeah because Heather invited me to a Heather: Yes! Good! Jodi Turpin: a women's business like to connect and like, you know, possibly, you know, set up different things together, which has been extremely successful for me. Yes, it's been so good. Yes. Yeah, was. It did it work. like you just reached out and it was such a beautiful night. So was at Zion Well in Ann Arbor. And there was just, you know, just a little gathering and then we just chatted. There was some snacks and Heather: Yay, love hearing that. It makes me so happy. It's working. ⁓ Mm-hmm. Jodi Turpin: drinks and cocktails and, the goodie bag. What in the world? That was my, I never would have thought of even doing that. Are you, yeah, me too. I have it on my dresser behind me, but like, so every person brought an item about their business and you could offer something or just a little something. And so you were like opening up a Christmas gift when you got home. That was really, really special. Heather: It's the best drag bag ever, yeah. I'm still digging through it. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. was like such a nice curated thing. And even some of my vendors that weren't here donated stuff. So we got stickers and beverages and things sent by people that I've never met in person, but they still supported our little cause. Jodi Turpin: I think it was a huge cause and it was so I've been telling everyone I was so excited to talk to you about this like why you even thought like okay let's bring I know this happens but like what brought it out in your heart Heather: It was just like a thought that was like nagging at me that I just had to make it happen. I do a lot of events ⁓ and I meet people and some of them overlap and some of them don't and I just really thought like those people should know each other. Wouldn't it be cool if you did this at the studio or? Jodi Turpin: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Heather: in Jodi's garden or, you know, or, you know, to like sell your things at someone else's shop and like get in front of people that you're not in front of already. And, you know, just have like the support to like to commiserate or, you know, cheer on people. And even if it's just as simple as like following each other on Instagram and like getting that in your feed and like seeing another woman succeed and. Jodi Turpin: Yes, yes, I love when an idea nags. Heather: Do cool stuff. Jodi Turpin: I just did a podcast about this a few weeks ago. Just when it lands in you and it won't leave you alone. Thank you. Heather: Mm-hmm. Yeah. ⁓ Yeah, I'm like, right, all right, let's do it. you know, I did it. This was only my second year doing it. But the first year, mean, in this year, too, I do it messy. I do it shamelessly, like just reaching out to people that I don't know, but who I've enjoyed, you know, watching or like, have gotten like good feedback about. ⁓ So I mean, it's definitely like, I'm not real organized with my like, emails or like, it's just like, I literally have a notebook and I'm like, who sounds cool? Okay, they said yes. Awesome. And yeah, like people just Venmo me. It's not like a organized like, here's my invoice. So yeah, you don't need to be like, super like established with you know, all the all the right things like just just start. Jodi Turpin: You You Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, and do it. Where did you do it the first year? Okay. Heather: and it'll fall into place. ⁓ at Studio New, which is in Plymouth. So it's just an event space. And ⁓ so last year we did it a little differently because we had more space and everyone kind of offered a little ⁓ like one-on-one session, like little mini things. So we had ⁓ a ⁓ bar set up, we had like a bunch of snacks, we had a girl doing lip flips that I thought nobody would do and everyone did. ⁓ I had people making their own oil rollers and we had a psychic. it was because we had more space and we could spread out and do little make rounds. We had a massage therapist doing chair massages and everyone said, Jodi Turpin: I don't even know what that is. Mm-hmm. Heather: fun it was and we just felt like we were at a slumber party. Like, felt so cared for. Yeah. Jodi Turpin: ⁓ that's perfect. And like knowing that feeling of what it feels like to start a business. again, sometimes your business is this idea and it's horrifying and it's scary. Like the podcast was to me or a lot of the things I've ever done. And so you have that camaraderie that's like silent between you that you, you Heather: Yeah, yeah. There were moments, I mean, this happened at both where I like was like, ⁓ I'm the hostess, like I need to go like check on people. And like, there wasn't even anyone like standing alone. like they don't even need me. I just had to like put them all in the same room and see what happens. Jodi Turpin: Mm-mm. Yeah, it was really nice. I really enjoyed myself and I'm excited to attend more things like this. And hopefully you're the next time you do it. Yes, let's go in my garden. I think we already talked about this a little bit. One big tea party. Yes. So, geez, I could talk about that forever, but I just want to say too, like just... Heather: Yeah. Yeah, let's let's do it together. Let's make it happen. Yes, I love a garden. So pretty. Yes. ⁓ Hahaha Jodi Turpin: If you're wherever you're at in the world, like create this. Like even my friend in Austria, they have like a business owners that are just in that city. It's men and women and they just meet at like a bar and there's snacks and people get their own drinks and they just chat. And that feels good. I went to that one too. That was my first one ever. And I couldn't even speak German at all, but I had a good time. Heather: Mm-hmm. Yeah. That's an amazing first time. They look happy. don't know what's being said. Cheers. Jodi Turpin: Yeah, it is. Well, some people's most panic. Yeah. Hi. Some people, a lot of people speak English, though, like anywhere over there. So there's always someone to talk to, but and another. Heather: Yeah, I love traveling and I'm so thankful that, I mean, we're very spoiled that people speak English almost everywhere, or at least enough. Yeah. Jodi Turpin: ⁓ you know it. I know that. Do you speak any other languages? Heather: Not fluently at all. Jodi Turpin: No, I can speak Spanish, but not like it's slow and like a five, like four year old, let's go four year old. Yeah. Heather: Yeah, yeah, like I can order a beer and ask where the bathroom is. Jodi Turpin: Yeah. ⁓ Heather: Say thank you. Which is, yeah, it's very important to know how to say thank you at least. Jodi Turpin: ⁓ yeah, in every language. I always want to know that. My husband and I are going to Puerto Rico, so obviously they speak a lot of English. But I'm excited to practice my Spanish that I've been trying to practice like over the past few months. So we'll see. ⁓ you've been in Puerto Rico too? I bet you've been so many places. I need to see a map. Heather: Yeah. Yeah. Wonderful. I love Puerto Rico. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, we did. That was another time that I stepped outside my comfort zone because we ended up like booking this hike through the rainforest and we didn't really know that it was going to be required that, I mean, it wasn't required, but it was like pretty necessary that we like jumped into the water from the cliff and the like off this rope swing. Jodi Turpin: ⁓ boy. I saw that tour. Listen. ⁓ wow. I saw that tour. I saw those slides. I saw that one. Heather: And we're like, we're so confused, like, what do we wear? we wearing it? Like, do we change? They're like, no, just jump. In your clothes, in your boots, your helmet. But it was so fun. Like, we still talk about it. Yeah, the natural like water slides that like in the rocks. It was a blast. Do it. Jodi Turpin: You did that too? Did you do the slides? I'm like horrified of it. I don't know why. Heather: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I think the slide was the easiest because you just like sit down and the water takes you. Whereas opposed to like jumping, you have to like take the leap. ⁓ And the girl in front of me like chickened out. And I was like, wait, what? Should I not be doing this? But yeah, we were safe. No injuries. I survived and I'm here to tell the tale. ⁓ Jodi Turpin: ⁓ that really is a lead up. ⁓ how exciting. That is so exciting. ⁓ boy. I need to look at what I booked then. Heather: I don't know if they're all like this, but yeah, and there were like, you could go backwards and not do it, obviously, but it was like, yeah. And then it's kind of like, yeah. Jodi Turpin: ⁓ Now my heart's beating really hard. I know, geez Louise. It's okay, I'll be okay. I wanna go. So I've always wanted to go to Puerto Rico, so. Heather: We can pause, you can check your book again. ⁓ Yes, such good food. Enjoy. Can't wait to talk to you about your trip. I'll interview you. Jodi Turpin: Okay. Yes, I will tell you right away. ⁓ you weren't joking when you wrote, you were a travel, I mean, you've probably been like. Heather: Yeah, yeah, I like to get away, see how other people are doing things. Jodi Turpin: ⁓ I love- Me too. And I don't want to go to like the main cities where it's like very like, you know, modernized. I want to be like with the people and I want to talk or and I want to share food and I want to like really experience the culture. I don't want to just go and look at this thing museum after museum or whatever. I mean, that is. Heather: tourist. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I don't want to be like at the like cruise ports where everything is like made for us. Don't, don't accommodate me. I want to see how the locals are doing it. What do they really eat? As opposed to what we think they eat. ⁓ Jodi Turpin: Yes, yes, yes. No, I'll do whatever you're doing. That's true. Oh, I like this. I feel this way very strongly too. Like, how can I get out of where the main, where the airport was or where the cruise thing, you know, what can I do? Oh, beautiful. I love this about you. So, sorry, Sorry. Heather: Yeah. Yeah. It terrifies my mother, but... Yes, yes. Jodi Turpin: But you have to do it though. Like we have this beautiful experience in this beautiful time as this person right now. Do it Yeah, I wonder if I terrify my mom I'm gonna have to ask her Heather: Yes, exactly. I agree. My mom just tells me that I don't even have to ask her. Jodi Turpin: Does he travel with you ever? Heather: Ha ha ha. I mean, when I was younger, we did lots of road trips and things, but ⁓ I think the activities that I do on my trips, like jumping from cliffs and taking videos of it and going by myself, I'm like, it's fine, it's fine. I'm not really alone. ⁓ Jodi Turpin: Yeah. Yeah. ⁓ that's so beautiful. So to completely shift gears, I want to ask you, why did you get into massage therapy? Heather: well, it was completely selfish really because I just hated my job. I wanted to do something more ⁓ like in a relaxing environment. ⁓ and, ⁓ so I went to school ⁓ was pretty okay at ⁓ And, ⁓ did work at ⁓ spa for a while and it ended up closing ⁓ I live above a salon. ⁓ Jodi Turpin: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Heather: and they had space that I used to just like just set up down here. And now I have the best setup and it's been 20 years, I can't believe it. Jodi Turpin: I saw that. Yeah. Well, and I can see like you're really into self care because sometimes a lot of massage therapists... Heather: So whatever was going wrong was doing it for a reason to lead me to what I was supposed to be doing. Jodi Turpin: don't last that long because they get burnout with the energy exchange and the physicality of everything and stuff. So you must be really good at self care. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Heather: Yeah. Mm-hmm. ⁓ I try to. I think I am like a work hard, self care hard kind of girl. I love a spa day to kind of reset. ⁓ But yeah, and a lot of people don't last that long because it takes a lot of time and dedication to like grow your business. You gotta like really want it. Jodi Turpin: Yeah. . Heather: Yeah, so, but, you know, obviously, we were talking about the long wait life I've built my clientele and, ⁓ and then have, you know, added retail and other things to kind of supplement the fact that there aren't more hours in the day. So, ⁓ and, you know, I try to keep it affordable for everybody, but still, I'm like, I'm got 20 years experience. So Jodi Turpin: Yeah. Wow. I think your prices are very good. You know, like I've seen. Yeah, yeah. Heather: Thank you. I think so too. I pay more usually when I go and get a massage, but I'm not planning on being the discount therapist, but ⁓ the fact that I my home and business in the same place and there are things that I'm saving on and I don't need to gouge people because I want people to be, I think if more people were taking care of themselves, then the world would be a happier, more peaceful place. Jodi Turpin: Mm-hmm. ⁓ yes, yes. So what are your favorite ways to take care of yourself? Mm-hmm. Heather: ⁓ so like I do get massages and I do ⁓ acupuncture. do ⁓ chiropractor. I love my chiropractor. We hang out. And, and then I love to like explore. And so like this, this year I started doing chiro therapy, ⁓ a nice sauna sesh. Jodi Turpin: ⁓ Heather: If there's something I haven't heard of, I'll probably try it. I'll throw myself on the grenade and see what happens and then tell everybody whether it was good or bad. Jodi Turpin: Yeah. That's good. What is chiro therapy? Heather: really cold. Jodi Turpin: ⁓ yeah. Okay, so you get in that thing. I just didn't know the name of it. It's like from here, like that like the neck down or is it the whole body? Heather: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Oh, so the one that I've been going to in Ann Arbor, it's called Restore. They offer a variety of things, but they have like a chamber that you like walk into. Jodi Turpin: ⁓ Okay. Whatever song you want. Heather: Yeah, it's intense, but you're only in for three minutes and they play whatever song you want to get you through those three minutes. Yeah, so you can just kind of like go through the lyrics and like pace around. They're like, don't, like you can move but don't dance because we don't want you to hitting the sides because they're really cold. Jodi Turpin: ⁓ wow. I have to consider trying this maybe. I like the cold because I hike every day no matter what's going on outside. Yes, I hike so I think I'd be okay with it. What's the temperature in there? Heather: Yeah, yeah. Really? So there's a pre-chamber that's like negative 45 and you're there for like 15 seconds and then it's like negative like 160, which just sounds insane. But you are wearing like a robe, mittens, sacks and slippers, a hat, and then like a mask over your face to protect your airways. And it's very energizing. Jodi Turpin: with a little colder. Okay, I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna try. Just try anything. Heather: Just try it once. Do it. Jodi Turpin: That's what I'm saying. Like I used to be a teacher at a Montessori school and with the eighth graders, we went down to Texas and there was a zip line and they're like, Ms. Jodi, you have to go. And I was so scared, but there's nothing like a bunch of eighth graders telling you. Cause they're fearless. I guess it would be kind of considered that, but like they're just like, just do it. Cause other people were scared too, but it was actually really delightful and Heather: They bullied you. Yeah Jodi Turpin: nice and like slow flowing down, I'd do it again. Heather: Yeah, you'd kind of just have to like put your trust in this clip. Throw yourself into the experience literally. Kyro is only three minutes and you are on solid ground the whole time. So you got this. Jodi Turpin: You do. I've checked it like 10 times. That's so funny. Done. Yes. Okay. Okay. Maybe this can happen. So yeah, I could I'll try it. Do you go in with a team member or do you go alone? Heather: Hahaha ⁓ Maybe we can go together. I think there's space for both of us. Yeah. You go alone, but they're outside and they will let you know like when there's 30 seconds left and you, I mean, the door doesn't lock. You can leave it anytime. Jodi Turpin: Okay. Yeah, I probably wouldn't try to escape. I'd be like, no, I'm doing this. Like, that's the kind of person. Yeah, like, I'm just gonna do it. Heather: I'm doing it. Yeah. And there's like a countdown, which whether that helps you or makes that feel longer is kind of up to you. So you don't have to look at the countdown. But if you want to like peek and be like, okay, I can I can wait 10 more seconds. And then then you do like the sauna or like the red light after to kind of warm back up if you want. there's I like if I do a cold plunge or Cairo, like anything like that, I like to know that I can Jodi Turpin: I can do it. Heather: reheat my body. Jodi Turpin: That's true. I do like my feet warm. So like even after I hike, sometimes I put them in the tub to warm them back up. Even with like the nice boots, you still get a little chilly. Yeah. Heather: Yeah, Yeah, toes and fingers, like they just lack circulation. Jodi Turpin: Do you wear gloves? I'm asking a lot of questions about this. Heather: Yeah, this is not a service I offer. Yet. Yes, you wear mittens and they like make sure that you have like everything on. There's like a little checklist they do. Jodi Turpin: Hahaha Okay. Okay, I'll try it. Okay, I made up my mind. made up my mind. Heather: You heard it here people, she's trying. You can edit it out I guess. Jodi Turpin: ⁓ boy. That did like really feel the deal. But I'm leaving it. ⁓ I do want to talk about some of the extras that you offer because I didn't know what one of them was. So like you have like the sauna wrap oils, you do prenatal and like lots of different things with like the oils for sure because you're doing so much with this. But what is a sauna wrap? Heather: So it kind of looks like a body bag to be crass about it, but it like wraps everything but your head. And it uses infrared light to warm up. And so some people prefer it because your face is out, so you don't get the like steam or the suffocating steam of it. so it just helps like sweat out toxins. Jodi Turpin: ⁓ okay. Yeah. ⁓ and so you're not, you don't massage them at the same time. That's just like a separate server. Heather: beyond. No, it's a separate thing. Just, yeah, because they're wrapped up. So I can't even really get to them. Jodi Turpin: Yeah, and how long do you do something like this for? Heather: The session is 45 minutes and some people make it the whole time. Some people will bail at 15. I'm always like lingering around me like, you okay? And it's Velcro. Again, you can escape if you want to. Jodi Turpin: ⁓ Yeah. I like how you give a lot of options for getting out of things. Heather: Yeah, I was just thinking, there's always an exit. Jodi Turpin: Yeah, yeah, I know there really is like you have to think of that in your life in general, right? Like there's always you can always change. But the job started a new job, you know, get out of the sun and wrap. Don't jump off the cliff. You can do whatever you want or not want. But with your oil, ⁓ it's tickling me. Sorry. ⁓ With I didn't write the second word down and I'm kind of biting myself about that. But you do an oil thing. Are you putting oil? Heather: Mm-hmm, yeah. Yeah. Jodi Turpin: Now is this just your face or the whole body? Heather: the emotional support oils, is that what you're referring to? The oil application, yeah. Jodi Turpin: Yeah, I was trying to look it up like you do like a lot of yeah, the oil application. So is this something that is included in the massage or is it? ⁓ Heather: That one, so I always use aromatherapy during my sessions. This one's just kind of more concentrated and the oils are more like specifically chosen to support emotions. So that service is a separate thing and a lot of people will do it in addition to a massage. So it's like an extra half hour where it's just oil application. And so there's, ⁓ Jodi Turpin: Okay. Heather: nine oils and like all they're concentrated as opposed to using them in a carrier oil like it would with massage therapy. And so I'll put the drops in my hand, put it kind of under your like face cradle so that you can inhale it. And then they go along the spine and the bottoms of your feet. And so each oil is applied for like three full minutes. Jodi Turpin: ⁓ Yeah. Heather: like so you really soak it in. And then in the middle somewhere I will put a carrier oil just to help like absorb the beneficial essential oils. I love doing it because my whole like building smells good after I'm done with that. And I've gotten like a little nose blind to the oils because I've been working with them for so long. So I love when I can actually like smell them and reap the benefits. Jodi Turpin: ⁓ wow. Get in there. Yeah. And you use all natural ingredients, correct? At your all oils and ⁓ I think I already either asked you that or learned about it somehow and I love that because I'm not an artificial kind of girl at all. So yeah, yeah. I know I talk about this a lot, but like Heather: No, I can tell. Yeah, we love plants over here. ⁓ Jodi Turpin: Yes. How you talked about being smell blind to like a lot of people who use conventional things or like certain deodorants that have a lot of chemicals or perfumes or different things or candles. Like you actually aren't smelling it anymore. So when someone comes into your house, they're like, whoa, and you're smell blind. I just, it's like a public server pronouncement. Heather: I mean... yeah. Yeah. Good or bad smells, you are smell blind. I know people come in all the time and I'm happy that this is their response. They're like, oh, I could smell it outside. It smells so good in here. I'm like, oh, good. I can't smell anything. But I'm glad that it's a good spell and a good response. And you aren't like, whoa. Jodi Turpin: Yes, yeah. Good, it's not there for me anymore. Yeah, yeah. ⁓ yeah, I try to remind people of this all the time, but it's hard, like even like fabric softener. So good or bad, you know, like, but you, I thrift a lot of clothing and I'll be like, Whoa, this person used a lot of tide and they used a lot of perfume and I can't get this. cat, cat appearance, cat booty appearance. ⁓ what's it, what's your, what's the cat's name? Heather: Mm-hmm. Cat. Cat. Boyd. Show your face. There we go. This is Jinx. His brother is Juju. And then Wednesday's in the bedroom, so she won't make any appearances. They have to be separated. Damn cats. Yeah, she's happy in her... Jodi Turpin: Aw, James. So cute. It happens, right? It happens. Aww. Heather: ensuite over there. She feels very special in the VIP area. Jodi Turpin: ⁓ I love it. have three cats. That's really exciting to me. I love when I go to someone's house and they have animals and then when people don't have animals, I don't know what to do at their house. I know it seems weird. Not to be mean, sorry to everyone who doesn't have animals, but I do feel like, ⁓ hey, I can pet this cat or dog or whatever they have. Heather: Yeah. I've never not had an animal. Yeah. I need my familiars. Yeah. Jodi Turpin: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, your pet. Like, actually petting. not like as an an... I love just like petting. Heather: Yeah, yeah. And the cat's purr is actually very calming, the frequency that they purr at. It's medicinal. Yeah. Jodi Turpin: Yes, I love that. It is, yeah. Even yourself, you hum or just something to calm down. It's like the same that... But if you have it built into your house... Heather: Yeah. ⁓ Just walk by, pick up a cat. Jodi Turpin: What did I just? ⁓ boy. I do want to talk about a few of the other things you offer because I'm really excited about all of them. So I know I want to smell everyone, everything. So you do hot stone. It's hot stone massage. So you're like, you're using. Heather: Good. Tell everyone. ⁓ Yeah, like I have them in my hands and do the massage and then I also ⁓ lie them like up and down your, well, your front when when your face up and then I'll do along your spine. Jodi Turpin: Thank that's really, I've had that done one time and I really enjoyed it. It was. Heather: Yeah. I love it. And some people do them like all year long too, no matter how like hot it is outside, which the AC is on so it kind of balances out. yeah, it's very, it makes you more like buttery. So when I like put them down and go in with my hands, like I can get a little deeper into the tissue. Jodi Turpin: ⁓ yeah, I think I actually. Yeah, Yeah, that's really nice. But it's, I like that you said that about all year round, because I'm like a soup in the summer girl and a salad in the winter girl. Makes no sense. It doesn't. Heather: It doesn't have to. You like what you like, when you like it. Jodi Turpin: Yeah, yeah, I know. Just do what you like. Again, everybody. So you do a deep blue, a deep blue rub foot wrap. So is that during the massage too or is separate again? Heather: Mm. Yeah, that's like during the massage. So it's not extra time. It's just like spending the time differently. So the deep blue is one of the offerings from doTERRA. So the closest example would be like an icy hot, but the doTERRA version is all natural. And it's a very popular item, the deep blue. Like I think it's the only... Jodi Turpin: Mm. Yeah. Heather: thing that I sell that my boyfriend knows my name is, babe, can you rub some blue on my back? It's like a phrase I hear often. Yeah. So it has like a, you know, an icy hot feeling and I use like hot towels around it. And it's, it's, I have people that do that again, like every single time. Jodi Turpin: That's awesome. That sounds really nice. I know that... Yeah. Get it in there. Mm-hmm. Heather: They want their feet wrapped in, especially if they have any inflammation in the foot or ankles or after a night in heels. Athletes love Deep Blue. Jodi Turpin: Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. And you sell these things too though, right? Like you, yeah, I've got so many, I have so many questions. Yeah, yeah, you can get it, know, you're like, or you're on vacation or something you needed. Yeah, yeah, yeah. ⁓ Heather: I do, yeah. Yeah, so you can have the experience at home. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, I take I take a big suitcase full of products everywhere I go. ⁓ Jodi Turpin: I know I've seen that. We did an event and I got to set up next to Heather a weeks, a couple of weeks ago, I think. And yeah, that was, it was really smelling nice over by her, but it was also smelling nice by me because I brought a whole bunch of flowers and herbs with me. So it was strong. Yeah, we had a strong section of smell. Yeah, it's really. Heather: Yeah. Yeah, we had a nice little corner. It was wafting. And Jenny's actual flower bar too. That was a good event. Jodi Turpin: Yeah, oh yeah, because that was like right next to us too. That was really, oh boy, so many beautiful things to do in the world. I love it. This is the thing I am most interested in is the tea tree back exfoliation. Do you use a thing like a, I'm sorry, go ahead, tell, I'm already asking questions. Heather: ⁓ No, I just use my hands and then, ⁓ I think you're referring to like what they do at like the schvitz, like beat people with branches. Jodi Turpin: No, that little scrapy thing, like more Korean. You know what I mean? Like where it's like scraping this in. Heather: Oh, okay. the, no. So this is, it's a product that's like a sugar scrub and has tea tree oil in it. And so I put that like on your bag. It's good for like back knee or, yeah. And it just feels good too. Like if you just have, you know, dry skin or like post sunburn, if you're peeling. Jodi Turpin: ⁓ Yeah, yeah. is so nice. Okay. I just love a good exfoliation too. Heather: ⁓ And then I use hot towels to remove the product. So it just feels nice because hot towels always feel nice. Yeah, yeah, start fresh. Back is hard. Yeah, that's what I'm here for. He's got your back. Can do your own feet and legs, but can't quite get every angle. Jodi Turpin: Honestly, like your face like exfoliate. Yeah, everybody exfoliate Go to Heather. You're back done because I don't know how you can do it yourself Like you'd have to have like a special I don't know We can get them out here. Yeah. ⁓ my gosh, this just sounds... This is like, I'm like falling in love. Like this sounds like everything about this song, like this. Amazing. I like, can I do it all together? Don't do that, Jody. It's too much at one time. Heather: Hahaha! I'm going to like this. I've got like a three hour session. Yeah, yeah, don't worry. I've got a robe if you need a break. Jodi Turpin: So another thing, I know I'll like, I'm gonna be here for about seven hours and I'll need lunch. I'll bring sandwiches. That's perfect. ⁓ this is so perfect. So you can also do a cooling face massage, is, is that similar to like the foot kind of thing, like the, what you're using. Heather: So if I use the, it's again a doTERRA product that's called Breathe. So it kind of opens up your airways and kind of, it has like minty smell to it. So it feels a little cool on the face. And I use chilled glass swans to move it around. And that would be good for like sinus issues or headaches or. Jodi Turpin: Okay. ⁓ that's so I need that right here. Yeah. Heather: Again, if you have a sunburn, because it just feels nice and cooling. Or just because. Just because you want to try it. Jodi Turpin: I bet people come to you just for every reason, you know, like just because and then really specific reasons, I bet you've seen it all. You have needs and desires and wants within why you're getting any of these things done. I'm so glad they keep coming back too. mean, Heather: Yeah, yeah, in 20 years I've gone through quite an array of clientele. Yeah, yeah, and I'm glad they keep coming back. Jodi Turpin: told you I'm really excited about it. I needed to ask some questions though for myself. Heather: I keep waiting to like look at my phone and see your name like pop up like during the like see you in June. Jodi Turpin: I like signing up for an appointment as we go along. That's awesome. So then you have the higher frequency healing mat. Is it like, ⁓ so it's. Heather: Yeah, so that's from the same company that makes the sauna wrap. But instead of going all the way around you ⁓ and doing like a full body sweat, this just lays kind of underneath you during your massage. So it doesn't have to be a separate ⁓ time. And the mat, I actually pull the mat out if I'm doing like a yoga session at home and I'll do like a restorative yoga on it and it Jodi Turpin: Okay. Okay. ⁓ yeah. Nice. Yeah, I am. Heather: It's warm and it's got it's full of amethyst crystals. If you're into that, I am. You can tell me it's magical, I believe. And it has electromagnetic frequencies. So depending on whether you need it to be more ⁓ energizing or Jodi Turpin: ⁓ that sounds, yeah, just to add that. It's not gonna, it's just gonna make it more delightful. Heather: If you're trying to go into a deep sleep, then we'll set that accordingly. Yeah, it's just underneath you so it doesn't like vibrate or like anything like that. You're just, you just know it's there because I'm telling you it's there, but then it just adds a little something to the massage like you're the way you feel after. Jodi Turpin: Yeah. Yeah, I saw it as an add-on when I was looking through everything. But obviously, this was all about me, and I needed to ask you all these questions. Just joking. Heather: Yeah, yeah. Well, I hope other people are curious too. Jodi Turpin: ⁓ they are. know they are. think the... It's just so funny that I... I know like I like before I gotta get myself set up for the next like you know consecutive month so that I can actually have a spot before other people start signing up with... Heather: But book yours first before this air. Yeah, I have sweet clients. They're like, I set an alarm so I like make sure to like grab the appointment or I always check like when I got up to the bathroom in the middle of the night. You think of me like in the middle of the night. It's like an honor. Like, like, obviously, as I was saying earlier, like this is where I'm supposed to be like, and I'm just so grateful that I, you know, Jodi Turpin: Yeah. Wow, that's beautiful. Heather: took the leap to quit a job and go to school, like after I was done with school. And yeah, on some multiverse, there's me that's still working retail and hating it and I feel bad for her, but I'm happy to be this version of myself. Jodi Turpin: Yeah. Okay, she's supposed to learn. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that one's supposed to learn that way. So it just has to be what it has to be. So I also saw on this, and I don't know if we talked about it at all, is what is Bex and Ginge? Heather: Yeah. That's my CBD line of self-care products that I started with my friend, Rebecca Vex. ⁓ So like, you know, I was already doing things with the oils, like making my essential oil blends. had some bath salts and things like that. And I made a face serum. Jodi Turpin: Yeah. Mm hmm. Heather: with the oils and she was in and saw that and she's like, if you've done anything with CBD, no, like it's so good for your skin. And I was like, I had no idea. Like I knew it was good for muscles, but I had, I didn't really think about it in a, a facial product kind of way. And so ⁓ we got together and talked about like what types of products and ⁓ Jodi Turpin: Yeah, yeah. Heather: She had a friend with the farms. had, you know, trusted CBD we could use, because obviously that's not a doTERRA product. it was local, which I love, but I love to get anything that I can from a local source, which adds a little more charm and then just supporting the people around us in our neighborhood. And so we had... skincare but then also ⁓ bath salts and rollers for muscle recovery, which you know that I could add into my massage practice so everything was full circle. Jodi Turpin: Mm-hmm. And you sell this, you know, do you sell it online too? actually, ⁓ yeah, it says it right here. Look, I'm looking at the website as we're doing this. ⁓ Heather: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, it has its own page, which I've kind of gotten away from. She had to she was too overwhelmed with her corporate job to do both. So I left her her cute little face on it and her name on it. But it's all me. ⁓ So yeah. Yeah, yeah. And ⁓ the the logo was created by our friend Amanda May Moore. Jodi Turpin: ⁓ nice! Yeah, it's really cute. It's super cute little picture. I can see why. ⁓ was it really? I know I actually well she I was invited to do that the make and take Valentine's Day thing that you were at and then yeah, Amanda May and I are doing something else in the summer too. We've been talking so I know there's a lot ⁓ I need to reach out for to her for that though. I need help with the we talked about technical things or like like art things. I like to watercolor paint but I it's not for Heather: Mm-hmm. Yeah, the love factory. Yeah. Yeah. Jodi Turpin: It's not for everyone to see, you know, like I need assistance with that. Yeah, Yeah, like that's great that you can do that, like, but like even like my brand stuff, like look how plain it is. It's just it just says Jodi Lindt urban. It's as plain as possible. Heather: ⁓ yeah, yeah. Yeah. That's all the information we need. ⁓ And you're so natural, like it's not boring. Like it's just like. Jodi Turpin: It is, it really is. I like simple. It's good for my brain, but you know. ⁓ Yeah. ⁓ Heather: sweet and natural and like not flamboyant. Jodi Turpin: I know I'm not mad about it. It's okay. I don't know. I would like a little something, maybe like a flower. Like, I like like these colors and this thing behind my head. So like that kind of direction. Yeah, I love it so much. Heather: Like 70 years, yeah. Jodi Turpin: so. Heather: I think things from our youth are so comforting. The colors or the songs. It's hard to like new things when you're just like, that makes me feel good. That makes me feel at home. I would still watch Price is Right when you're sick at home and eat the foods you ate from your youth. Jodi Turpin: Yeah. I know. Yes, yeah, chicken noodle soup. You don't need chicken though. I read that you're a pescatarian. Heather: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, for a long time now. Don't even remember. Missing. Jodi Turpin: That's good. That's great. It gives you lot of options being a pescadarian because there's so many different kinds of fish. Heather: Yeah, yeah, can still like do seafood and especially traveling like there's really good seafood out there. But nothing with the face like I don't like to be too adventurous with the seafood. I don't want like in a lot of countries will put like the whole fish on your plate. I'm like, please take it away. Please. Yeah, so I've learned my lesson and have to ask or do or or just eat vegetarian if I'm not sure. Jodi Turpin: That's what I'm excited about. Don't do that. Don't do that. Yes. Heather: you Jodi Turpin: You know I'm gonna have to make? I'm gonna make a laugh track of us. I knew we would laugh a lot because you're a laugher and I'm a laugher. Heather: Welcome back. Mm-hmm. Yeah, so I got teased a lot. Did you like, people make fun of your ⁓ laugh? Jodi Turpin: ⁓ yeah, it's too loud. Why do you like laugh so like, like big like that? And yeah, my family, but I find that now friends, they like that about me. Like that I laugh. What do call it? Uninhibitedly? Like just laugh. Heather: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah, like I don't hear myself. I mean, I will when I watch our session and I will probably cringe a little bit, but like I don't hear it like in the moment. ⁓ It's just like part of my voice kind of. But I've had people like find me like because of my laugh, like in crowds or at events or things like. Jodi Turpin: Yeah, yeah. Yeah. That's awesome. Heather: like, like didn't even know I was there. They were like, oh, there. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Like my stepbrother, like I was like 19, I'm working at the mall and he was in town from California and didn't even know that I worked there. And he heard me at the mall. And it was just like, I heard your fricking laugh. Yeah. Jodi Turpin: Heather's here, I hear her. I hear her happiness. It's coming out her mouth right now. No. Heather: like a beacon. Jodi Turpin: It is. And so I find this like two things, like I've always laughed really big and loud and it does, it triggers people, think too, because there's this like joy and it doesn't mean that we don't have pain, but there's like a continuous joy that comes out and like it's a release of energy. Heather: Yeah. Mm-hmm. I've got like a dark sense of humor too, so I'll even laugh when I shouldn't. if something's awkward, I'll think it's hilarious. Like, start laughing. Jodi Turpin: 100 % I do this. Me too! My sister and I do this too. Like, ⁓ I'm trying to think of like a semi not mean story to set to tell right now. But okay. Say we're just like at a house and like someone keeps like tripping and they're like really tall, like they're your feet and they're tripping and then sub their toe and stuff. And like after the 10th time you're like, pull yourself together. Your feet, you've had those feet forever. And it's just so like, and we're laughing so hard and like, we're mean, we're mean, but it's funny, you know? Heather: Hahaha! Down, yeah. I think people are take themselves too seriously. Jodi Turpin: They do what I completely agree to. Like when everything is so serious, like how can your life be joyful and fun? Heather: I can't, can't. It had to be like so, like I think you can't like, plan for joy. Like you can like plan for, you know, exciting things and you know, like vacation or whatever, but like you can't, like, I think like, just random shit is what makes like, my mouth smile and like, like that's funny. yeah. ⁓ Jodi Turpin: It's it's me. No. ⁓ I know and then like in those times where it's like like you said like dark humor or like even a little lower and like maybe you know you just broke your arm and now everyone's sitting at the hospital or worse I don't know and then we can just be like yeah yeah yeah and you're like that was ridiculous how funny was that that like my concussion story so that's five years ago Heather: Like, of course this happens to me. Jodi Turpin: I've thought it was funny since the moment it happened, nobody, everyone's like, ⁓ it's so sad. ⁓ A freaking toilet paper dispenser fell on my head. That's hilarious. Heather: I was not prepared for you to say that. Jodi Turpin: Like I sit down and I'm going, and my son's outside, he's probably 14, and then all of sudden this girl's really crying hard and she slams the door shut and like, and then all of sudden the toilet paper, it's like higher up, like here, and it just goes, plonk. I know, there's so many questions to this story. Heather: Floor! Why would it be up high? ⁓ Hahaha Jodi Turpin: ⁓ that one was a really good one. But I want you to laugh because like number one, like it's, it's funny how it happened. And that's very like on brand for me. And then also I learned so much from having that experience. I'm so grateful that I got bonked in the head. was able to reprogram like my whole self. I was like an empty, like a blank sheet of paper. Heather: ⁓ my gosh, yeah. Mm-hmm. Ha like someone hit reset really hard. Jodi Turpin: in the weirdest way possible and also like you know use this toilet paper. Alright, let's just yell out something completely different, but that's okay. Yeah, so when you take things lightly and realize that everything that is happening for you and not to you, I think it does open up a lot of space for laughter. Heather: ⁓ no. Yeah. Yeah, and I think when people are too serious or always ho-hum and e-or about life, good things aren't gonna happen to you only. No, no. There's bad luck and then there's just manifesting bad because you're... Jodi Turpin: I know, you won't see the good. No. Heather: Bummer. Yeah. Jodi Turpin: No, I know I'll see people and they're stuck in the same place for a very long time. And they're still complaining about the exact same things like 20 years later. And I'm like, you're you're stuck in this loop and you can just like, and you have so much power inside of you to just be like, break it open. then like, Heather: I mean, yeah. Yeah, smash it. Yeah. Jodi Turpin: choose differently. Just break a little thing on and you fall out of it and you're like, ⁓ help me. And something weird happens like a, know, a toilet paper dispenser falling in your hat. For one time I fell, I fell planting potatoes and like, I'm like, what? And I actually broke my back, but it's such a funny story of how, you know, like all these things. Heather: Hahaha I didn't realize you were this clumsy. Jodi Turpin: I know it's like three things, three major things in the whole life. ⁓ but like I learned so much from these huge experiences, like which most people would say traumas or extreme, know, horrible things, but I'm grateful. I wouldn't be this. Yes, of course it was hard. Heather: Yeah, I mean it was hard, but also like make it work. Jodi Turpin: It's funny. I remember. Yeah, cause I've talked about this before, but like when I broke my back the first time, I couldn't do anything. So I'm just like leaning on the ground. had to use one arm to like hold myself and the other hands, like what I could do things with like eat or whatever. And then my hands are so soft. would make everyone feel my hands and I feel my hands. They'll never be this soft to get in my entire life. And I would make everyone like, it was like a baby because I didn't use, I didn't do anything. Everyone did everything for me, but yeah. Heather: Hahaha! Yeah, no calluses. Jodi Turpin: I learned to allow people to help me in that from that situation, right? So, yeah. Heather: Well, the universe, like, if you don't sit down, it'll set you down. rest. Rest is important. Self-care is important. Like, balance. Jodi Turpin: It will. It'll it'll slap you down fast. Yeah, and whatever balance looks like to you, could be daily, weekly, yearly. It's always going to change and shift and mold. Heather: Yeah, like whoever you are, it's probably more than you're doing now. So, yeah, I mean, a lot of people will be like, I need to call you, I need to call you. And I will never see that person on my table. Jodi Turpin: 100 % Yes, yeah, and they need it the most probably. They really need to get on the, yeah, they need to get outside. They need to have, you know, the cooling. Heather: Yeah, yeah. it's not scheduling is the hardest part. Like getting here is not that hard. Laying down is pretty easy. Yeah. Jodi Turpin: It is. No, and then it's something to look forward to. Yeah, I I saw the one. So like we go to Puerto Rico and then we come back and then we have a super busy like five days and then you have a sketch. have an appointment that next week, like two days after that. And like that would be perfect timing for a massage or for a little treat. Heather: Post travel, like after being crammed in a plane, is really nice to get a massage. Jodi Turpin: Yes, it really is. then just, you know, seeing a lot of people and then just being like, okay, I know like after your vacation though, you do kind of need a little, you know, respite. You need to just like relax a little bit. Heather: Yeah. Yeah. The way I vacation anyway. I'm very active. One of my clients said, don't vacation, you travel. So that was like, that's a really good way of saying it because I'm not like a laid by the pool kind of girl. For one, I'm a redhead. will go up in a ball of sleep. But I'm a like, you know, Jodi Turpin: Yeah. COVID flames. Heather: 15,000 steps a day when I'm on vacation. Like I want to like see everything and soak it all in and be like, let's go to this museum. Like I want the culture, want the food, want the everything, everything. Jodi Turpin: Yeah. I know, like you can sleep some other, you can sleep when you get back. Heather: Yeah, I'll sleep on the plate. Jodi Turpin: I know it. know it. Like we're only in Puerto Rico for five days and I already have four things like major things scheduled to do. And the day we get there too, let's get it going. I got to learn how to salsa dance when I get there so I can enjoy the rest of the time. You know, I can't, we can't wait to do that. We have to do it right when we get there. And it will be like dropping off, taking a pee, you using the bathroom at the Airbnb and then, you know, out right away, you know? Heather: Yeah. Yes, I love it. I love it. Jodi Turpin: I'm ready to dance. What kind of shoes do I wear? Yeah. Heather: How fun, do you have a special outfit that you're taking for salsa dancing? Like really good skirt. Yeah. Jodi Turpin: I am. It's like a very flowy bottom. Yeah, flowy bottoms. And then like I run very warm all the time. So like it's like a tank top dress with a good amount of support up top. And then, you know, I have two different pairs of shoes. So if I can go barefoot, I prefer. But if they want you to have, I have a strap on sandal or a regular sandal. And that's all they get. That's what the options. Heather: Unless they're supplying shoes, yeah. Jodi Turpin: Yeah, no, my outfits are extremely curated for going to Puerto Rico. I usually just pack the night before. I'm not like a planning in advance kind of girl with packing. I usually ask my husband though, I say, Heather: Mmm. Jodi Turpin: Do you, like yesterday I said, do you know if you have enough shorts to bring? And there's a laundry inside of the apartment. So, you know, we can just wash something if needed, but that's the only thing, because I don't like that last minute, like, ⁓ I got to run to the store to get a pair of shorts or the, you know, things like that. So. Heather: Yeah. Yeah, I like start very ⁓ detailed plans and then it never like things don't make it into my bag. And then like the night before is like the panic pack. I'm like I have such good intentions, but then I'm like, ⁓ yeah, I work 12 hours the night before I leave for something like. Jodi Turpin: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I will start making a list or I have like a basket sit by my dresser. And I know I wanted to bring like a certain vitamin or like I like to bring activated charcoal in case you get food poisoning. You never know. I like to bring cream of tartar. Like I bring certain like natural medicines so that the experience, I don't know, I feel like when I forget them, that's when I get the situation. So I just bring them. Heather: Mm-hmm. huh. Yeah, and then you don't use them when you have them. ⁓ Jodi Turpin: Yeah, I know just like picking up space on the bathroom counter or in the kitchen of the place we stay at. yeah, I have I don't know. I feel like I've I usually don't pack, but I just was seeing the outfits. I just kept putting them in the basket and I'm like, well, that's too many. We got to bring less. But again, I told you I was just, you know, I'm a warm girl, so I usually need to change my outfit one time, at least during the day. Yeah, yeah. So I know it's funny how everyone does things differently or. Heather: Yeah, Puerto Rico's hot. Jodi Turpin: You you stress about one thing or the other thing with a trip, but it's supposed to be like a very pleasurable experience. And I'm like, I would stress so bad. I'd like so angry before I went on a trip. I'm like, I got to do, I got to remember to do this and this. I'm like, I can get anything I desire wherever I am. Like if you forgot your deodorant or shampoo, okay, you just go to the store and get it, or you just don't use it. Heather: Yeah. Yeah. You don't know those people. ⁓ Jodi Turpin: It's so much fun. ⁓ it's so much fun. I love that you've brought up though about like taking yourself lightly because you can still be serious about your business and about like how much you love your family and friends and all the things and that you take care of yourself, but it can be very light and you can still be a very deeply spiritual person I find within this. And yeah, I don't know. just... Heather: Hahaha. Jodi Turpin: Thank you for saying that. I'm glad I'm not the only person on this boat. And I know there's a bunch of people out there. I know you're out there, Find us. Giggle with us. Heather: Find us. Ha ha ha ha. Jodi Turpin: Have you gone to laughing yoga before? Heather: No, I didn't know that was a thing. Jodi Turpin: It does exist. I did it when I was in New York one time and people were already laughing as they were walking in I didn't I don't even know if we did yoga. I kind of just did what she did, but you're laughing so hard the whole time I was like crying because I was laughing so hard Heather: Do they tell like joke like where does the laughter like Jodi Turpin: No, it's just the energy. Like one person's laughing. And then, and I went in there and I wasn't really in the mood for laughing too. I was like, this is, this is dumb. That's what I thought. then as I'm walking in, people are already laughing. I'm like, what are they doing? This is like, this is like old, yeah. And then there's just laughing and laughing and like people are crying and they're all red and you know, it's so funny. Like laughing in a good way. It's a good workout for your belly too. Heather: And that made you laugh, yeah. Are laughing at me? Yeah. I've done goat yoga. ⁓ It was very, ⁓ it was a novelty yoga for sure. Like, yeah, we did some poses, but it was, you know, there was also like some poop happening. like, so they were like, ⁓ just shake your man off of it. Like, ⁓ my God. Jodi Turpin: I know, there's some... you done puppy yoga? Yeah, yeah. I can't get back on it. can't get back on it. Yeah, this is adorable. Get a good picture with me. That's so funny. I want to do puppy yoga. I love puppies. But then again, there's going to be a lot of poop and pee. Heather: Yeah. Yeah. Thank Yeah, yeah. So I was on my way to puppy yoga, I don't know, last summer sometime, and I kid you not, we saw a stray on the side of the highway and stopped to save this little guy. And we thought we'd be like, oh, let's call the proper authorities and we'll be on our way. So we might be late to puppy yoga. ended up. Jodi Turpin: Mm-hmm. Heather: spending hours catching the spray. ⁓ And then it was a holiday, so it had to live with us for like four days because everything was closed or booked or, you know, on holiday. ⁓ But long story short, I did get him to the Humane Society and he has been adopted. it was just like, well, we kind of did puppy yoga because I got into some weird positions trying to like... Jodi Turpin: saving the time. Heather: woo him into my arms, but. Jodi Turpin: And if you didn't have like a snack with you to give them to like. Heather: Well, I ended up like staying on the side of the highway while my friend went and got like breakfast sausages. That was like the quickest thing to ⁓ acquire. ⁓ eventually, yeah, he loved us. And then I cried because I wanted to keep him, but we couldn't. But the universe likes to drop animals into my life. And I appreciate it because I do love an animal. Jodi Turpin: ⁓ that's a good idea. awww I would cry too I would have a hundred dogs if I could. The house is not that big though and they cannot all be like, we won't all fit in the bed. I'll have to like do an extender bed outward or something just to hold all the dogs. Heather: Yeah. ⁓ Yeah. Yeah, like the extenders. ⁓ Jodi Turpin: every way. And it's warm sleeping by an animal. Like a cat or a dog. Like a cat is laying on your chest or like your side and it's hot. They put out a lot of heat. You cannot move. That'd be so rude. That'd be so rude to move. Like my dog will take me to my legs and I'll shimmy up really high. And then so I can flip and put my legs back around her the other way. I don't want to bother her. Her sleep is way impolite.
