Lisa Drennon: For Christmas, my husband bought me a Therogun. I was having some pretty intense hip pain and I thought, perfect, I'll just fix it myself. So I'm using this thing, pressing into my hip, trying to relieve the tension, and honestly, it wasn't working. It was uncomfortable and felt awkward. I kept moving the gun away from the places that actually hurt the most. Then I went to get a massage and my massage therapist, she got right in there. She was able to press into that painful spot, even though it hurt. But was that kind of good hurt, the kind that releases something. So I told her about the Therogun and how I was trying to fix it myself. And she said something that stopped me in my tracks. She said, we're not going to do anything that's painful. We're not going to lean into it. We're going to move away. That's why we can't do these things ourselves. And I thought, wait, that's exactly what I've been doing. When I'm alone and in control, I move away from the pain. but when someone else presses in, it actually brings healing. And then it hit me. This is exactly how we treat money. When we at our money, ⁓ becomes a pain point. When we feel anxious, ashamed, confused, or overwhelmed, we move away. We don't look at the numbers. So before we dive into this today, I want to invite you to the smell of money where we get deep into the pain ⁓ ⁓ money calls every Monday. We start with a money awareness challenge. So many of you have no idea how much income you have coming in, how much expenses you have going out. You don't know your numbers. The link is in the comments. we don't look at our numbers. We don't check the bank account. We don't know what's coming in, nor what's going out. We swipe the card and hope for the best. We tell ourselves we need credit cards to survive, but really we're just avoiding the pain. There's something in your past, a money story, a memory, a belief that keeps showing up in your present and it keeps you from peace. And from clarity, it keeps you from becoming the multi-millionaire you're fully capable of being. We say budgets are restrictive. We blame our spouse, our past experiences, the bad advice on why we're not good with our money. But what we really mean is it hurts to look. It hurts to look. So today I want to give you three things that will help you stop moving away from the pain and start leaning into it. Just like my massage therapist did that I couldn't do with that TheraGun. So it all starts here. The first thing is gratitude. Every single day, get a money journal. Not your regular planner, a dedicated money journal. Write down three things minimum that you are grateful for when it comes to money. How did money provide for you today? How did it serve your family? What bill were you able to pay? What opportunity did you have because of it? Gratitude shifts you from fear to awareness and awareness is where healing begins. The second thing is to get a money map. You cannot heal what you refuse to see. Create a money map, something simple. I use a very basic Google sheet, no fancy apps, no complicated spreadsheets, just clarity. Track your income, expenses, debt, ⁓ worth. You need the big picture. I offer a money map for $27 for mompreneurs and a personal money map for $17. But the point isn't the tool. The point is know your numbers because once you know them, they stop being scary. They become data and data is neutral. And this data is going to help you see exactly where your money is, how much you have, how much you need and what you need to adjust. This is your personalized money map and it gives you that big picture, quick glance so you can see exactly what's going on. The third thing and all of you skip this and I really want you to stop skipping this. Please pay yourself first. So many people pay their bills first and then hope there's something left over for them. Let's flip this. Savings is not an afterthought. It is a priority. Make this one of your bills. Make this your first bill that you pay. Build up that savings account. Earmark it for something specific. Maybe you want to travel. You want to renovate your home. Buy a home. Buy a car. I highly recommend you start building your emergency fund. Your emergency fund creates safety. I cannot stress this enough. You want to have at least three months of needs, whatever your expenses are for your needs, your rent, mortgage, gas, and electric, the needs, not your wants in that savings account. So if something happens, you got the money, you're covered. It's the same thing I talk about with our taxes. When we have our business checking account, we set up our taxes, we set aside 15%. you know, the percentage you set aside is going to be dependent on your situation, but you set aside a percentage for taxes. You put it in a high yield savings account like Axos Bank. And when the tax bill comes, you have that money. And yes, there's a thought process that goes with transferring that money to pay that tax bill. I know I don't like paying taxes either, but I cannot stress this enough. Creating money buckets and investment bucket. vacation, dream bucket. When you assign purpose to your money, you stop subconsciously spending from hurt, anger, or frustration. So many of us are spending emotionally because of old wounds. And the first step to changing that is to ask yourself, what do I believe about money? In my Wealth Accelerator program, we actually write your old money story and then we rewrite it. because you cannot build true wealth with a wounded money story. And it all begins with knowing your numbers. If you're in the U.S., I personally like Basque Bank for online savings, for business checking, Axos business and savings. But these tools don't create wealth, awareness does. Connection with your money, changing your relationship, changes your financial future and gives you the freedom that you want with your money. And I know it takes courage. I know it's difficult to press through that pain and work through it yourself. That's why it's so important to hire a mentor like myself to help you go through the process. I couldn't break the debt cycle. When I racked up $100,000 worth of debt, I couldn't break that cycle on my own. I knew better. I had all the tools. What I didn't have was the money mindset. The psychology of money is what is the key that keeps you wealthy because so many, all of us can receive money. You've probably made a million dollars in your lifetime. The key is have you hold onto it. We don't hold onto that money because we don't feel worthy or deserving. And this is exactly what I help people with. mompreneurs in my wealth auxiliary community. So stop moving away, lean in, press into the pain point because on the other side of that discomfort is peace, overflow, clarity, and yes, true wealth. And you are absolutely, capable of it. You absolutely deserve it because remember it doesn't matter how much money you have. It's what you do with it.
